Free Clothes for Girls

I have posted a few outfits for women that I have received amazing deals on and hope that others are taking advantage of as well through the links I have provided :).

Let us take a look at a few kids pieces from these links and of course I will throw in a Goodwill find ;). Even though I am a little upset at the drastic price hikes that Goodwill has done lately (as well as “retail” upgrades)  in SWFL (and maybe all over, I’m not sure), I can still find a few good deals here and there, just not as often as I used to.

We will start with my daughter. I have picked out my daughters clothes for years, but when she turned 10 (maybe that is a little late to some) she started picking out her own (as long as they were age appropriate, affordable, and not too cray cray). I am incredibly lucky to have a daughter who trusts my taste in clothes for her (for the most part- once in a while there’s a few pieces she turns her nose up at), and appreciates the fact that I think about her (and my son) when I am clothes shopping or just happen to run across a random piece somewhere.

I actually asked some questions that a friend had posted on Facebook, and had my kids answer them honestly. Here is what they said (yes, no. 7 is missing because my friend took that one off since it was about height, hahaha).

DuGreis questions

Alexis questions

They were pretty legit answers even though some are a bit off, they really crack me up with how they think or what they think about us as parents even with such basic questions. But number 10 for Alexis is what I am talking about here. She remembers this about me and what I do for her, and I feel she really appreciates it or this would have not come up in the conversation. It really makes me feel good. Little things make me feel good.

About this outfit:

This is a hat that Alexis ordered for FREE off of Poshmark. For free? Yup, you may have noticed me explain how in previous blog posts, but as an overview…….

Download the free app, Poshmark, on your smart phone and sign up as a NEW user. At the time of sign up, enter the code BOJQX for a $10 dollar credit toward your first purchase. Poshmark allows you to shop from closets of regular people across the entire country. Some have very gently used clothes, and many have brand new, never worn clothes with tags attached. You can find amazing discounted deals on these items that run you far less than chain stores even though they originally came from there!! Some people do sell retail items on the site, but we obviously look for the bargains on new and used pieces.

This hat is in excellent condition and it is from Justice, another reason why Alexis loves it so much, haha. It was listed at $8 I believe and she offered $5 and it was accepted. Normally shipping is 4.99 flat unless your bundles weigh more than 5 pounds. I missed out on the .99 first time shipping price because Poshmark does not accept American Express so I had to wait for a Visa. The total still came out to be $9.99, but with her $10 credit, it was free. Was it a waste of $10? I don’t think so. She is in love with it and wears it daily, inside and out, lol. I allowed her to choose an item and this is what she chose!

*******************************************************************************************

Her T-shirt was a NWOT (new without tags) top that I found on the site ThredUP (my favorite site).

Thredup9

Here are a few pieces from a ThredUP shipment for Alexis (all like new).

The picture has no cracking, peeling, missing sequins or any flaws because it is a NWOT top, and it was FREE!!! Sign up (on the web for easier browsing) for ThredUP HERE to get your FREE $20 worth of clothes (5.99 shipping) just for joining with a NEW (never used before device, email, username) account (please do not try to make multiple accounts as your credits will not be valid).

She LOVES these clothes, and she knows that I LOVE saving so that I have more money to put somewhere else for my kids needs or overall family needs. For all of us, it is a blast seeing how our next deal can be better than the first! I feel that I am teaching my kids not to be stingy, but to be smart with money because like I have mentioned before, there is no sense in spending $50 on a pair of jeans when I can get the same or similar pair for $3 elsewhere when the kids are going to outgrow them in less than a year!!! We all probably have access to a washing machine so there really is no shame here.

****************************************************************************************

Top: Justice- ThredUP– $0 (NWOT- not maternity)

Tank: (Hidden)- Dollar General- $2

Jeans: Either Justice, Gap or Levis- $3 Goodwill

Necklace: Free gift from one of her grandmothers for Christmas. A glitter filled bottle.

Jacket: Cant remember brand but I believe we got at a Ross.

Hat: Justice- Poshmark- $0 ($8 offered $5 and used credits so nothing out of pocket).

Don’t forget to visit one of my previous blogs titled “FREE CLOTHES” to find out how you can get your own free orders on gently used clothes and brand new clothes 😀.

If I find more, I will be sure to update for you guys!! Thanks for visiting and don’t forget to pass up these great deals. You can always earn MORE credits/free money for more clothes. It doesn’t stop with your first purchase :D.

Maternity Fashion 2

I have been so lazy when it comes to dressing up to leave the house during this pregnancy. I have received some really cute things that I just can’t wait to share with you, yet I really don’t leave the house except for my side job which is at 4am!!

Today, everyone got ready just to do a quick library and post office errand so we were extremely casual. Well, we all also forgot that today is a holiday, MLK day!!! We stopped to tour some apartment complexes while we were out so it wasn’t a complete waste of gas, and then I had my lovely daughter snap a few photos of a super casual outfit to show you before going inside. Ummm, you can’t see it, but it was freezing today in SWFL! Brrr.

Here you go! Please excuse my exhausted, no make up looking face. It was a very lazy day.

I am about 30 weeks here so time is almost up. Woooow!

This is Zoey, our Parti Pom!

I absolutely love pink. For a long time I’d say I didn’t because of the typical stereotypes on girls, but I love it. I do. This dress was even better in person when I got it and gosh, I was so excited about this piece!

It is extremely comfortable made with a soft and stretch cotton blend which is perfect for before, during and after pregnancy. It is a size M and I am surprised at how some of the mediums that came in seem a bit larger than I remember. I am hoping that I can pull it off after the fact!

I received this dress from Schoola, a site that I previously blogged about. The sweater and the flats have also been featured on previous blogs, but I will list the info again at the bottom.

The best part about this dress………is the fact that I got it for free. Yup, free. It is an Old Navy dress and was NWOT (new without tags) so wow, what a deal!

Here is the blog link that explains HOW!!!!

In the order that this dress was included in, this is what I got :). When you visit these sites, you are going to love it!

I will show these other pieces later when I am not being lazy, HAHA.

Dress casual

This was my 2015 St. Patricks Day outfit!

I stopped into my side job to pick up a pay stub (because we are about to move, YAY!!) and a co-worker said, “Why are you all dressed up?” I responded with, “Oh, these are my every day clothes; what I wear when I’m not at work.” She said that the outfit looked dressy and that made me feel nice!

I wear gym clothes to work because my side job is at a gym so that means a LOT of workout outfits. It would be SO easy to just wear that every single day, and there are quite a few days where I do leave them on after work because I don’t want to go all the way home to change for a few hours. Then, some days if I work there later in the afternoons, I don’t want to change INTO the workout clothes, haha. Luckily I have some AMAZING workout clothes (which I will be showing off shortly) so either way, I’m cute ;). Haha.

You can look dressy and sophisticated in shorts! Does it look dressy to you? I think it looks pretty casual, but in a more put together way. There is nothing wrong with a T-shirt kinda day, I still participate in those; don’t get me wrong, but I like these days a bit more :).

Bold words are our recent thrift finds.

Cardigan: Old Navy- Goodwill- 2.00 (half off tag)

Shorts: Talbots- Goodwill- 2.00 (half off tag)

Shoes: Shoes- Sperry- Rack Room Shoes- 79.99 (BOGO sale)

Handbag: Unknown brand- Goodwill (like new)- 4.99

Sunglasses: Forgot brand on tag- Goodwill (new with tags)- 2.99

*******************************************************************************************************

The top was purchased 2 months after the shorts, but it happened to be a great fit for the shorts that my daughter still does not like. Like I said in the original shorts post (https://familycoleition.wordpress.com/2015/01/07/my-daughter-begged-me-not-to/), they can be worn with so many different tops because of the colors. That is why I like them so much!

The top seems dressy because it is a nice sheer fabric and the bottom green feels like silk, but its not. It is just super soft and light weight. It is a lovely outfit to wear on a summer day being out and about :). Very happy with this look!!!

Like mother, like daughter

When I first started my thrifting journey after getting over my phobia, I noticed that my 10 year old daughter had the same phobia I did at that age and older. She acted like I did, quiet but not wanting to have anything to do with it. I was thankful she didn’t complain when we would pit stop into different Goodwill stores because she was really watching what I would find. After going every week and finding her a cute (and sometimes BRAND NEW) piece here and there, she began to venture off into the kids section on her own. She started picking out her own things and did a VERY good job!! Now, as soon as we walk in she says, “I’ll be in the kids section.” I tell her I will be right over and we meet up and have a trying on party! Here she is showing off a couple of her finds! We hope you think they are as ADORABLE as we do. I am very proud of her and what is even better, she is proud of herself <3. She is getting very good and I am so glad that I can show her early on that there is nothing wrong with getting more for your money :).

Collage of finds

Saturday we hit up our second Goodwill 50% off sale. While we didn’t dive in like we did the first time, we picked up a few “needs”. We had a seriously busy day, and did our best to squeeze 3 or 4 stops in.

Here is one of my simple finds while standing in the checkout line “ready to go”. There’s ALWAYS time to peruse!!

*************************************************************************************************************

This was a long day started with a very early morning of higher education learning, haha, at FGCU. These days are the ones where you grab whatever you can find in a dark room (with maybe the bathroom light peeking out a tad bit) praying the whole way from that moment to your destination that whatever you threw on matches……in some way….any way and if not, you do your best to act like you meant to end up that way.

The necklace was on the dash board of the truck so I threw it on to balance out my tan shoes ;). I wear tank tops with EVERY shirt to prevent the lace pattern or whatever design (folds, creases, pleats, lace, bow, ruffle, etc.) the bra may bestow, from saying hello to the outside world. Here, the white tank with grey designs decided to pop out so it pulled my white sunglasses in!

Happy thrifting and feel free to share your stories. We have a great video to show if I can figure out how to release it. It is something else, that’s for sure. Enjoy!

Boys and their toys

Growing up, I had pretty much everything I could have asked for…within reason. I was raised as an only child so I didn’t have to share the funds with siblings which meant, more for me…which equaled, SPOILED.

Mom and dad would tell me stories about how they clothed their other 5 children (who were grown, married with their own children at this time) with Goodwill clothes. I thought, “Oh my goodness, that must have been horrible! Nothing would have matched and it would have just been dated!” True nose turning by a spoiled child who didn’t even wear many name brand clothes- but hey, they weren’t from Goodwill.

diva gif

If you read our previous posts, you would have learned my feelings about Goodwill and then how they changed as I got older with my own children. While Goodwill may receive a lot of dated items, they still receive up to date styles, thanks to the rest of the spoiled kiddos out there :). Kiiiidding.

I did; however, have a rule that no toys were to ever be bought at Goodwill. That was just a no-no, period…for many reasons, until the day we found this little guy.

goodwill22 dugrei goodwill22_1 dugrei

DuGrei fell in love with the WowWee Robosapien. He talks, poots (yes- farts, but we don’t use that word- a little something I carried over from growing up), he picks things up and he puts them down, he walks and does a lot of other things that are pretty cute.

Anyway, I told DuGrei, “no”. We don’t buy toys from here and it’s missing the remote so that is why. They never work either. Well, we checked out, got our stamps (woot woot- for those that don’t know, you receive a stamp for every $10 dollars you spend on that visit) and left, with our son moping across the parking lot.

I felt bad. Just terrible. So we turned around and went back in. The cashier informed us that the remote WAS there and she went and retrieved it for us. It worked! The look on DuGrei’s face was just priceless. She didn’t charge us extra for the remote even though it was priced separately and she even added that amount onto our last receipt so that we could get an additional stamp (we were $2.00 short)!!!

His outfit also came from a selection of Goodwill stores and he doesn’t mind a bit. I am so blessed to have children that (for the most part) do not turn their nose up to certain things or ideas. They truly understand and I love them to pieces. Thank you mom and dad for helping me understand so much so that I can pass it on to them.

Top: Will update brand soon- Goodwill- 2.99

Shorts: Abercrombie kids- Goodwill- 2.99

Shoes: No brand- Dollar General- .50 (clearance)

WowWee Robosapien– Goodwill- 2.99

Batteries for WowWee- DG- 1.50

This robot used to be over $100 dollars and still runs for about $70 today, but even with it being “old news”, it’s a great toy for a little boy that appreciates so much in life. That is all that matters, guys.
