That’s what friends are for

Friends help friends, right? Some of mine sure do, and I am so grateful. For the longest time I didn’t think I had many friends, especially after my move back to FL in 2010 (10 years after graduation to start over). I have a ton of “friends” on social media, but they aren’t REAL friends (you know what I mean).

It isn’t about how many, it’s the quality of the few you may have. I met a girl at a gym I got a job at a while back, and at first I was pretty sure she hated me (actually, I was positive). There was what seemed to be some tension, but over time, we became friends. After we both moved on from that particular gym, we remained friends (we now both work at another company together- she got me the job!), and that does NOT always happen with co-workers. Once one leaves, most of the time that is the last time you’ll speak to them.

She has been a blessing to me in some rough times, and even came through for a stranger along with another friend from back in the day (high school- wow) after I asked anyone that saw my Facebook status to help this lady with her daughters birthday who wasn’t going to have one otherwise. They took time out of their day to come up with items and money for this 9 year old who was having a birthday the next day.

The day that we dropped the items off to the lady for her daughter, my friend handed me a bag of clothes, and said they were for me. Her sister sends her clothes that she does not wear, and they are very nice, some new, and some new with tags. My friend even let me keep the bag that they were folded in, and I love it! The bag is a soft, black, faux leather, square satchel from Saks Fifth Avenue so now I finally have a black bag :).

This post will feature one shirt from the bundle that was given to me that fit with my biggo preggo belly :D!!! There may be one or two others I can pull off for maternity, and then I can wear those and the rest after delivery.

It is a size small, but is very stretchy! The criss cross layers do a great job at camouflaging any bulgy areas I may have, but still hugging my belly in a flattering way. The color is a beautiful, rich orange (unlike the photo because it was insanely bright out today which made the shirt look like a road cone with my camera in the original photo).

Just another errand day with no makeup or too much going on.

Some of the layers are flipped up here to show how they are flowy.

My husband took this back view and I am very surprised at how you can’t even tell I’m pregnant!!! Turn me sideways and I may knock everything over, lol.

SO, my point here is that you all have amazing friends even if it’s only a few. They don’t have to know that you are struggling if you are, and you may be completely on top of your game and on top of the world, but you are still penny pinching for certain goals in life. That’s totally okay. They will understand, and you really don’t have to explain anything.

Don’t be afraid to ASK or make a post on your social media outlets for clothes that any of your female friends in your size bracket may be looking to get rid of for free or extremely cheap. Remember when we borrowed our friends clothes in middle and high school (even though sometimes we didn’t get them back)? This is the same thing only they won’t be expecting you to give them back! You can even do a swap so you both have a semi new wardrobe. I’ve seen many moms do this with kids clothes too, and it saves them a ton!

I was offered these clothes, but it IS an option and I don’t think it is anything to be too proud over. I have had other moms on my Facebook ask me if I wouldn’t mind giving up some of my daughters old clothes, and I was happy to bag the ones up that didn’t fit anymore and pass them on. I didn’t ask any questions because we all have our reasons :).

Social Network Shopping

SNS? Whaaaat is that? This is when you search on Facebook for local community pages where the surrounding areas post items for sale. Yardsale/ garage sale titled pages, Mom pages, and other specifically titled pages are considered “seller” pages on Facebook. You can join these groups for free, obviously, and watch for posts of items for sale that you may need. Sometimes individuals on these pages give items away for FREE because they do not want the hassle of trying to sell it or maybe it needs some work, and they are not worried about making money off of it.

There are many “Pay it Forward” titled pages in your areas as well. These pages are strictly for giving away items. You are welcome to claim an item that you may need (not too many or too often), but if you truly are not in need then perhaps it would be best to let someone else claim the item, especially if they have been searching or asking about the items on previous posts :). Giving your old items away on these PIF pages is also wonderful so have fun Paying it Forward!

This post will be brief in explaining this post as it is very basic, and explained above! YAY!!!

It has been weather crazy in SWFL lately with one day being freezing cold, the next day pouring rain with flooded parking lots, the next day kind of cold, but not really, then really cold, and then the next day being a breezy, warm day again!!!!

I chose this day to make my husband pit stop and take a photo of this shirt while we were sprinkled on, haha. I love you, Jason!

Free Clothes for Girls

I have posted a few outfits for women that I have received amazing deals on and hope that others are taking advantage of as well through the links I have provided :).

Let us take a look at a few kids pieces from these links and of course I will throw in a Goodwill find ;). Even though I am a little upset at the drastic price hikes that Goodwill has done lately (as well as “retail” upgrades)Β  in SWFL (and maybe all over, I’m not sure), I can still find a few good deals here and there, just not as often as I used to.

We will start with my daughter. I have picked out my daughters clothes for years, but when she turned 10 (maybe that is a little late to some) she started picking out her own (as long as they were age appropriate, affordable, and not too cray cray). I am incredibly lucky to have a daughter who trusts my taste in clothes for her (for the most part- once in a while there’s a few pieces she turns her nose up at), and appreciates the fact that I think about her (and my son) when I am clothes shopping or just happen to run across a random piece somewhere.

I actually asked some questions that a friend had posted on Facebook, and had my kids answer them honestly. Here is what they said (yes, no. 7 is missing because my friend took that one off since it was about height, hahaha).

DuGreis questions

Alexis questions

They were pretty legit answers even though some are a bit off, they really crack me up with how they think or what they think about us as parents even with such basic questions. But number 10 for Alexis is what I am talking about here. She remembers this about me and what I do for her, and I feel she really appreciates it or this would have not come up in the conversation. It really makes me feel good. Little things make me feel good.

She always has those headphones ;).

About this outfit:

This is a hat that Alexis ordered for FREE off of Poshmark. For free? Yup, you may have noticed me explain how in previous blog posts, but as an overview…….

Download the free app, Poshmark, on your smart phone and sign up as a NEW user. At the time of sign up, enter the code BOJQX for a $10 dollar credit toward your first purchase. Poshmark allows you to shop from closets of regular people across the entire country. Some have very gently used clothes, and many have brand new, never worn clothes with tags attached. You can find amazing discounted deals on these items that run you far less than chain stores even though they originally came from there!! Some people do sell retail items on the site, but we obviously look for the bargains on new and used pieces.

This hat is in excellent condition and it is from Justice, another reason why Alexis loves it so much, haha. It was listed at $8 I believe and she offered $5 and it was accepted. Normally shipping is 4.99 flat unless your bundles weigh more than 5 pounds. I missed out on the .99 first time shipping price because Poshmark does not accept American Express so I had to wait for a Visa. The total still came out to be $9.99, but with her $10 credit, it was free. Was it a waste of $10? I don’t think so. She is in love with it and wears it daily, inside and out, lol. I allowed her to choose an item and this is what she chose!

Her T-shirt was a NWOT (new without tags) top that I found on the site ThredUP (my favorite site).

Here are a few pieces from a ThredUP shipment for Alexis (all like new).

The picture has no cracking, peeling, missing sequins or any flaws because it is a NWOT top, and it was FREE!!! Sign up (on the web for easier browsing) for ThredUP HERE to get your FREE $20 worth of clothes (5.99 shipping) just for joining with a NEW (never used before device, email, username) account (please do not try to make multiple accounts as your credits will not be valid).

She LOVES these clothes, and she knows that I LOVE saving so that I have more money to put somewhere else for my kids needs or overall family needs. For all of us, it is a blast seeing how our next deal can be better than the first! I feel that I am teaching my kids not to be stingy, but to be smart with money because like I have mentioned before, there is no sense in spending $50 on a pair of jeans when I can get the same or similar pair for $3 elsewhere when the kids are going to outgrow them in less than a year!!! We all probably have access to a washing machine so there really is no shame here.

Top: Justice- ThredUP– $0 (NWOT- not maternity)

Tank: (Hidden)- Dollar General- $2

Jeans: Either Justice, Gap or Levis- $3 Goodwill

Necklace: Free gift from one of her grandmothers for Christmas. A glitter filled bottle.

Jacket: Cant remember brand but I believe we got at a Ross.

Hat: Justice- Poshmark- $0 ($8 offered $5 and used credits so nothing out of pocket).

Don’t forget to visit one of my previous blogs titled β€œFREE CLOTHES” to find out how you can get your own free orders on gently used clothes and brand new clothes πŸ˜€.

If I find more, I will be sure to update for you guys!! Thanks for visiting and don’t forget to pass up these great deals. You can always earn MORE credits/free money for more clothes. It doesn’t stop with your first purchase :D.
